System Setup Part 2

Setting Up Your Website with Bluehost

Having a website to host your pre-sell page content on is at the core of my affiliate marketing system.

Back in 2012 I had quit my job as an analyst to pursue a life of freedom while I made an income through affiliate marketing.
Unfortunately, while I do my best to inspire and encourage others to go out and pursue their dreams, many give up as the “setup process” to start a website seems too complex for them.
But its not. Below I have outlined an easy step-by-step guide to getting a domain, setting up hosting, and installing WordPress in 10 minutes or less.
There are many ways to start a blog but you will have best control using a self-hosted WordPress blog. This is what most serious marketers use, and what johncrestani.com is built on.
NOTE: The first step for setting up a blog is buying a domain and setting up hosting. If you are not sure about the difference between hosted and self-hosted WordPress, I found this helpful infographic that explains it well. My verdict… stay away from WordPress.com. It’s limiting and does not allow your blog to scale well.

TO GET STARTED HERE ARE A FEW QUICK STEPS:

  1. Getting A Paid Hosting Account (don’t worry this will be cheap)
  2. Buying A Domain Name (Domain Name is what you call a web address i.e. johncrestani.com or .net / .co / .info)
  3. Setting Up Hosting
  4. Installing WordPress
  5. How To Install the Clickfunnels Extension

STEP #1: BUYING A DOMAIN NAME

The domain name of my blog is johncrestani.com. That’s where people find me on the web and is the HUB of my business and where I host my pre-sell pages. Choosing a good domain can be tough. Your domain can either be your name or a branded domain like mine. Luckily, the hosting company I will recommend in step #2 provides you with a free domain for a full year and will usually cost around  $11.99 per year thereafter.

STEP #2 SETTING UP A HOSTING ACCOUNT.

This is where your blog will “live.” This is a server in the cloud (i.e., a remote computer), where you will rent space to install the WordPress software and manage your blog. It’s far easier than it sounds… Stick with me.
There are a hundreds of hosting services available. However, based on my experience and research, I recommend Bluehost. I believe it is the best option for most people for the following several reasons:
1. Bluehost is large and well known.
2. They offer excellent customer service (located in the US).
3. Their packages are highly affordable. If you sign up with the link below, I’ve actually locked my readers a $2.95 per month fee + a free domain! That’s the price of a coffee where i’m from.
4. Their service provides extremely fast page load times.
5. Bluehost is very easy to use.

ACTION STEP: Click HERE to buy your domain and signup for hosting with Bluehost. I have provided a visual guide of the steps below.

– IMPORTANT UPDATE (April 2018) …If you don’t use the above link and just go through bluehost.com, the setup process will be much different. You will be up-sold on many different products such as e-commerce extensions after you register which are not necessary and it will not automatically install WordPress. I asked if they could make it different for my students than they do for the general public to make it more simple and how I explain. They agreed.

> > When starting, use THIS LINK then follow the steps below. < <

BLUEHOST STEP #1

Visit This Link (the same as the one above) and Click “Get Started Now” button. You should see this…

BLUEHOST STEP #2

Choose your plan. If you can afford it, I would highly suggest going with the ‘Plus’ or ‘Prime’ plan as you get unlimited storage and domain privacy (helps a lot).

If your budget is tight (I’ve certainly been there) go ahead and choose the ‘basic’ plan. You can upgrade later if needed.

BLUEHOST STEP #3

Choose your free domain name or bring over your current domain. Both are very easy processes.

BLUEHOST STEP #4

Enter your personal details.

BLUEHOST STEP #5

Choose your plan and any extras which are optional but not necessary. With Bluehost, you don’t pay monthly; you pay yearly, calculated by a monthly rate.

If you chose the ‘Basic’ plan, I would highly suggest getting domain privacy.

BLUEHOST STEP #6

Enter billing information to complete the registration.

BLUEHOST STEP #7

Now it’s time to create a password. Click the blue button which says ‘create your password’.

Type in your desired password then click the box to agree to the terms of service. Then click ‘next’.

BLUEHOST STEP #8

Click the ‘Login’ button to login to your new Bluehost account.

BLUEHOST STEP #9

Bluehost has made it super easy to install WordPress and start a blog. Pick a theme! – How you want your site to look. This isn’t very important since we are going to actually use Clickfunnels to build all of our pages.

BLUEHOST STEP #10

All done! You are now ready to see your WordPress dashboard and begin building your blog. Click “Start Building”

BLUEHOST STEP #11

You should now be in your WordPress dashboard! – Let’s activate your blog. Click “Bluehost” on the top left menu.

BLUEHOST STEP #12

Click “Launch” – Don’t stress, you will not have millions of people viewing your site.

 BLUEHOST STEP #13

Give your blog a title and tagline. It doesn’t really matter what you pick honestly.

BLUEHOST STEP #14

Congratulations! Now you have your website, and you have wordpress installed. All you need to do now is install the Clickfunnels plugin to connect it to your site.

Just click ‘Plugins’ on the left side of your screen when you’re logged in, and search for ‘Clickfunnels’ and install the plugin.

> > You can download the Clickfunnels plugin for WordPress here < <

This will be detailed in the next step of the system setup.

Congratulations! You have officially started your website. This is only the beginning of an exciting journey for you. If you have any questions or issues please leave a comment below or contact my support at support@johncrestani.com

Student Spotlight: Luis Nakamoto

Luis Nakamoto is from the San Fernando Valley in California, and one of my very first students.

He’s earned over $44,516 PROFIT in a single month from affiliate marketing, and has been earning hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.

He was destined to continue the family business, and work at his family’s Peruvian restaurant, but he had bigger dreams than that.

Luis went down the path of searching for a business that could afford him Freedom, rather than being subject to the confines of restaurant work all day.

He tried out a few network marketing companies at first, and then came across affiliate marketing, eventually to learn about the experiment I was doing, when I was taking on my very first students.

Luis was incredibly persistent about becoming a student of mine, and started learning from me when all I had to offer was a link to a Google Drive folder where I stored some of the video files I had been recording.

Here are some excerpts of an interview I conducted with Luis when we were at an affiliate marketing conference a few years back.

When he started, he had far less than any one of my students has to start out with today. He had:

  • No Clickfunnels
  • No weekly webinars
  • No support
  • No recurring revenue affiliate programs

Yet he was incredibly persistent, and an incredibly hard worker, and has created many hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of income for himself.

Luis started out by using the same method of affiliate marketing that I still prescribe today: Facebook Ads > Presell Page > Offer.

Luis was advertising health related products, all over the world, and was able to generate massive results, I have posted a screenshot of some of his results below.

When you look at his incredible results, keep in mind that times change. Facebook no longer likes people advertising dieting products on their ad network, which is why I recommend you get started with promoting my products on Clickbank, or my affiliate network below.

If you’d like to follow Luis on facebook, you can add him here.

  1. If I need to have a Shopify store or another e-commerce store in future, will it integrate with this website ?

  2. If we something besides ClickFunnels (Kartra) we will still be able to use the landers you provide?

    1. You can certainly copy the text/images from any of the presells I use onto your own website builder.

    1. John, to follow up on Peggy’s question, is that because traffic is being ad-driven? My understanding is that pages rank higher in Google if they are https. But if don’t care about search result, that’s the reason https isn’t necessary, right?

  3. John, is there a step between #12 and #13? My site went into “congratulations”…You are now live….

I have not been given a chance to name my page or the blog or whatever.

What you show as your step #13 is not what I see as the next step after #12.

I was good, until step #13

    1. Go to Settings on the left side menu, and choose General, and you will be able to Change the Title, and the Tagline.

      1. Hi Samira, thank you for this information..quick question if I change the title it will obviously not be my domain name that I have registered. Is this Okay?

        Mary

  4. Sorry John…cannot find clickfunnels.

    I found plugins…..but no clickfunnels.

    Once again, HELP!!!

      1. Hi John, I should have responded many weeks ago when I found the clickfunnels plugin with your help, thank you.

Now I have another question, I joined Bluehost with the guidance of your original video. I am assuming it is okay. Your new video above shows a different setup. Please let me know if it is, actually the same or do I need to start again. I have a free domain and I joined with the premium hosting at 5 dollars plus.

  5. Hey John!
Im considering to run 3 different weight loss products on the same website, do you advise this? Or should i make up entirely new websites for each product?

    Cheers,
    Alex

    1. I hope it’s okay that I share… my first impression is that sounds BadA$$!!! lol…. Good going!

    2. Hi Eric. Checked out your link and it doesn’t look like you ever built out your site. What happened? Are you not using it?

  6. This system is very organize; it is a breathe of fresh air to know that I finally can get my affiliate marketing business off the ground after many years of hard work.

  12. Great training John. I already have a WordPress site on Bluehost but I didn’t realize there was a Clickfunnels plug-in. Freaking love it, makes it so simple.

  13. Does the name of your domain effect your business results in the future at all from your experience? Also does it matter if you add words like marketing in your domain name such as josesmarketing.com? I might be overthinking this, please let me know if I am.

  14. Same question as Corey Stoeckigt, Do we need to signup a paid clickfunnels account in order for the plugin to work?

  15. I found out by T&E (Trial and Error) that I could redirect my url/subdomain to my clickfunnels url. I didn’t see this in the instructions so I wonder if it’s OK to use a redirect with FB?

  18. Already have an account at Blue Host.
    Two domains register there.
Not sure about matching nitch with the domain?

  19. I am new to all this and trying to learn the system. I did set up a website but not sure where to go from there, how to put stuff on the site etc. Is there some place I can go to learn how to do this?

  31. I have hosting and domain that are not with bluehost. My domain is ‘excellwithme.com’
I used to be a member of CF is it a must to use Clickfunnels?

    Would appreciate a reply!

  32. I loved this video because it taught me ONE fabulous thing! I have always had issues with wordpress and now having a partner with me, Tam shelton, I can pretty much give her the bits that used to keep me from moving on and getting lost with motivation and zest to succeed. Anyway, I was able to follow along even though I am not using Blue Host and UNDERSTAND the basics including installing my Clickfunnel plugin. I didn’t even know Clickfunnel had a plugin! Go figure!! Any at the point where I have to enter information to FINISH CLICKFUNNEL plugin, I got lost/confused, however John said he would go over CF in a later video. I am hoping so. In the back of my mind, I think once I join CF Ill get the necessary information to finish the install. I had a quick look and there was a questionnaire which I did not fully understand, so I await the next step eagerly! Good luck everyone in moving forward like I am doing.

    Tam and Jann
